    Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ’s

Why are we transitioning from “Agape Youth Ministry” to “Prime”?

The agape love we have shared with each other and our youth for many years is, and always will be, a part of the fabric of our ministry. This will never change. However, as a part of our Pastor’s vision, we have a new objective as a youth ministry:

to engage youth and their families in ways that inspire spiritual growth, and to support their development into dynamic leaders in the body of Christ and the community at-large. Rebranding our ministry based on the needs (growth and development) and perspectives of our youth is the beginning of our commitment to fulfill this objective.

Where did the name “PRIME” come from?

Primary scripture reference: 1 John 4:19 … “We love because He FIRST loved us”. We go out of our way to show our love for God and one another using the example of Christ as our guide.

Prime references our first love (God). It is also a clever way of still incorporating one of FBCHP’s nicknames “FIRST Church” and referencing the stage in life where are youth are headed.

Prime is also an acronym. We are teaching our youth to live with Godly Purpose (Ephesians 2:10), build Godly Relationships (1 Corinthians 13:4-6), act with Godly Integrity (1 Peter 2:15), think with a Godly Mindset (Phillipians 4:8), and pursue Godly Excellence (Colossians 3:23).

Why are we implementing a new curriculum (Bible Studies for Life)?

As we take steps to achieve our objective, we recognize the need to be strategic about how we present content to our young people. First, conceptually we are aligning all lessons with the Levels of Biblical Learning ® developed by Lifeway. The framework covers 10 biblical concept areas -God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Bible, Salvation, Creation, Church, People, Family, Community & World. The concept areas are presented through eight different age ranges, from infancy through high school that reflect levels of understanding. Each lesson is aligned to one of these concepts
